    Sculptra vs Radiesse: Biostimulators Compared

Sculptra and Radiesse are 'biostimulators' — they don't just fill, they stimulate your own collagen. Same category, very different mechanics. Here's how to choose.

    What's in each

Sculptra: poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). Radiesse: calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres in a gel. Both stimulate collagen; Radiesse also provides immediate physical volume.

    Results timeline

Sculptra: gradual collagen build over 3–6 months. Results last 2+ years. Radiesse: immediate filling effect + collagen build over months. Results last 12–18 months.

    Best use cases

Sculptra is excellent for full-face volume restoration in patients with significant volume loss. Radiesse is strong for jawline, hands, and chest. Both can be used for non-surgical butt lifts.

    Cost

Sculptra: $700–$1,000 per vial, 2–4 vials over a series. Radiesse: $700–$900 per syringe, 1–4 syringes per area.

    FAQ

Can I use these for the under-eye area?+

No. Both are too stiff and can cause visible nodules in thin under-eye skin. Use HA fillers there instead.

    Are biostimulators reversible?+

No. Unlike HA fillers, neither Sculptra nor Radiesse can be dissolved. Choose an experienced injector.
